February 22, 23, 24 & 25, 2010 - St. Laurence Church
Father Tom Allender, S.J.
Nationally renowned author and preacher, Father Tom Allender will present a very unique and new Parish Mission, "The Fruits of the Holy Spirit: A Spiritual Inventory". Through the fruits of the Holy Spirit, one is inspired and transformed into being new people. Father Tom has developed a witty and energetic speaking style spirituality grounded in the psychological realities of our everyday lives. All are welcome!
Ordained a Jesuit priest in 1971, Father Tom holds degrees in theology and philosophy, has taught both high school and collegiate levels and performed as an innovative school administrator. With his illuminating, practical spirituality, he is at ease as a marriage counselor, an advisor to teenagers and a retreat director for drug and alcohol dependents. His book, God Loves an Unmade Bed, is a down-to-earth meeting with a divinity that loves us unconditionally, precisely in our times of trouble.
Mission Prayer
Gracious God, you desire us to bring all creation to its promised fulfillment in your Son, Jesus Christ.
You call us by our baptism to serve you with willing hearts and minds.
You invite us to share fully in the mission and ministry of your Son.
Fill our hearts with praise and gratitude. Bless our Parish Mission.
May the Holy Spirit touch our hearts with the fire of your love.
Transform this community. Help us to live our faith more fully as disciples of Jesus.
Help us to witness to others of your abundant goodness and saving grace.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
